Free Power Supply to All Govt Educational Institutions in Telangana: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday announced the free power supply to all government educational institutions in Telangana.

Participating in the Teacher's Day programme at Ravindra Bharathi here, the Deputy Chief Minister said the State government would pay the electricity bills of educational institutions and now onwards, power can be supplied free of cost.

Highlighting key initiatives undertaken by the Congress government to improve the school education, Bhatti Vikramarka said the State government has spent Rs.667 crore to improve school infrastructure, with committees set up to manage facilities through self-help groups. Additionally, Rs.136 crore has been allocated to address the sanitation crisis in schools, ensuring proper cleaning staff are hired, eliminating the need for teachers to clean the premises themselves, he said.

Bhatti Vikramarka criticised the previous administration for not conducting the DSC (District Selection Committee) exams for over a decade and said that it also neglected the promotion and transfer of teachers.

Upon coming to power, the Indiramma Rajyam government issued notifications for 11,062 posts and conducted the exams. A future plan is in place to announce over 6,000 more posts. Moreover, it has transferred 45,000 teachers and granted promotions to 30,000, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

He further stated that the State government is establishing a Skill University to address the gap between industrial needs and educational curricula.

"Sixty-three ITI colleges are being upgraded to Advanced Technology Centers, offering state-of-the-art technical education. Furthermore, Rs.300 crore has been allocated for improving infrastructure in universities, with Rs.100 crore specifically earmarked for Osmania University, which played a significant role in the Telangana movement," Bhatti added.
